Invidia shifts the narrative from envy as a trap, to envy as an awakening. What if our envy isn’t about what others have, but about the parts of ourselves we’ve yet to claim?
Traditionally, Envy is viewed as a destructive, leading to resentment and comparison. Here, Envy is reframed as a powerful tool for self-reflection—not about others, but about what our desires, insecurities, and aspirations reveal about ourselves. Instead of a passive, self-defeating emotion, Envy becomes an active force for growth and self-awareness.
Envy isn’t just about looking at others—it’s about truly seeing yourself. While she is “faceless” in reality, her reflection shows full identity, symbolizing the shift from comparison to self-actualization.
"7" is a reimagining of the Seven Deadly Sins through the lens of Black womanhood, race, and femininity, transforming them from moral failings into acts of self-preservation, autonomy, and reclamation.
This series challenges the way Black women are denied the right to anger, indulgence, pride, and desire, reframing these "sins" as necessary virtues- pathways to self-awareness, freedom, and intentional living.
Each piece serves as a space where Black women can exist beyond control, expectation, or justification.
